Lois: Hey Peter, did you read the Bible today?
Peter: Yeah, I read Psalms 71. It was so meta.
Lois: What do you mean?
Peter: Well, the psalmist was asking God to protect him from his enemies, and to not let them have the satisfaction of seeing him fall. It was kind of like Darth Vader telling Luke he doesn't want to turn to the dark side in The Empire Strikes Back.
Lois: That's really deep, Peter.
Peter: Yeah, and then the psalmist goes on to talk about how he's been relying on God since he was a child, and how God has been his rock and his fortress. It was like when Spider-Man saved the day in Homecoming, God is always there to save us.
Lois: That's pretty powerful, Peter.
Peter: Yeah, and then the psalmist talks about how God has been faithful to him and how he will continue to praise God for all of his goodness. Kind of like how Gandalf always shows up to save Frodo in The Lord of the Rings.
Lois: That's a great way to look at it.
Peter: Yeah, and then the psalmist ends by asking God to rescue him from his enemies and to always be there for him. It was like when Captain America got to save the day in Avengers: Endgame. God is always there for us!
