• Chapter 1

    Peter: Alright, so in the book of Exodus, Chapter One, the Israelite population has grown so large that the Pharaoh is worried they will take over. So he orders his people to put the Israelites into slavery and to kill all the baby boys.

  • Chapter 2

    Peter: Alright, so in Exodus 2, there's this baby Moses, who's born and his mom hid him in a basket in the Nile River to protect him from Pharaoh. Lois: Oh wow, that's so dramatic! Brian: Yeah, and then his sister watched over him from a distance, so she could make sure he was safe.

    Peter: Alright, so in Exodus 3, God calls Moses from a burning bush and tells him to go free the Israelites from Egypt. Brian: Whoa, that's like that scene from The Ten Commandments when Moses gets the burning bush!

  • Chapter 4

    Peter: Okay, so in Exodus 4, we got Moses goin' to Pharaoh and bein' like, "Hey, let my people go!" But Pharaoh's like, "Nah, bro, I'm not feelin' it." So Moses throws down his staff and it turns into a snake and Pharaoh's like, "Woah, that's like something out of a Batman comic book!"

    Peter: Alright, so in Exodus 5, Moses and Aaron go to Pharaoh and ask him to let the Israelites go, but Pharaoh just says no way. Lois: So then God sends a bunch of plagues to try to convince Pharaoh to let them go, right?

  • Chapter 6

    Peter: Alright, so, in Exodus 6, God tells Moses that he'll take the Israelites out of Egypt and bring them to the Promised Land. He also tells him that his name is Yahweh. Stewie: You mean like "Yahweh-yah-weh-weh?"

  • Chapter 7

    Peter: Alright folks, we're talkin' about Exodus 7. So, God tells Moses that he's gotta go to Pharaoh and get him to let the Hebrews go free. But Pharaoh's like, "No way, man." So God sends a bunch of plagues to Pharaoh, like frogs and locusts and hail and stuff.

    Peter: So, uh, Exodus 8. Alright, so, get this: God tells Moses to go to Pharaoh and tell him to let the Israelites go. Pharaoh refuses, so God sends a plague of frogs, and Pharaoh's magicians can do the same thing.

  • Chapter 9

    Peter: Alright, so in Exodus 9, God tells Moses to go to Pharaoh and tell him to let the Israelites go. Lois: Yeah, and then God makes all these plagues happen to Pharaoh and he still won't let the Israelites go.

  • Chapter 10

    Peter: Alright, so this is the summary for Exodus 10. So, uh, Moses is warning Pharaoh that if he doesn't let the Israelites go, God will send one more plague. It's gonna be locusts, and they're gonna eat all the food.

  • Chapter 11

    Peter: Alright, so in this chapter, God told Moses that he was gonna bring one last plague upon the Egyptians. Stewie: Oh yeah, I heard about this. It was something about the firstborn son of every Egyptian family being killed, right?

  • Chapter 12

    Peter: Alright, so in Exodus 12, God told the Israelites that they were gonna need some sheep. Lois: Sheep? What did they need sheep for? Peter: The Lord told them they were gonna need to sacrifice a lamb and use its blood to mark their doorframes, so they'd be safe from the plague of death.

  • Chapter 13

    Peter: "Hey Lois, I just finished reading Exodus 13 in the Bible. It's a real doozy." Lois: "What's it about, Peter?" Peter: "It's about the Lord instructing Moses and the Israelites to consecrate all the firstborn of their herds and flocks, and to set apart a lamb or a young goat from their herds as a Passover offering.

    Peter: Alright, so Exodus 14 starts out with God telling Moses to make the Israelites turn around and head towards the Red Sea. Then Pharaoh and his chariots come chasing after them. Lois: Oh no, they're gonna get caught!

  • Chapter 15

    Peter: Alright, so this is Exodus 15: Lois, what's it all about? Lois: Ugh, I guess it's about this guy Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt and then singing a song about God's victory. Peter: Ah, so what kind of song? Like a Taylor Swift song?

  • Chapter 16

    Peter: Alright, so here's the story of Exodus 16: Lois: (excitedly) Is it about Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt? Peter: Yep! So God tells Moses to gather the people and He will give them bread from Heaven.

  • Chapter 17

    Peter: Alright, so this chapter of the Bible starts off with the Israelites being attacked by the Amalekites. Lois: Oh no, those poor Israelites! Peter: Yeah, but then Moses leads the Israelites into battle and tells Joshua to lead the troops into battle.

  • Chapter 18

    Peter: Alright, so Exodus 18 starts off with Jethro, Moses's father-in-law, visiting him in the wilderness. Lois: Wait, Jethro...like the restaurant? Peter: Yeah, except that one's totally different. Anyway, Jethro was a priest of Midian, and he had heard about all the great things God had done for Moses and the Israelites.

  • Chapter 19

    Peter: So, uh, in Exodus 19, God tells Moses to go up Mount Sinai and tell the people that if they obey God's laws, they will be His special possession and a kingdom of priests. Lois: Ooh, I like the sound of that.

  • Chapter 20

    Peter: Alright, so for Exodus 20, God gives the Ten Commandments. No other gods before him, no idols, no taking his name in vain, remember the Sabbath, honor your parents, no murder, no adultery, no stealing, no lying, and no coveting.

  • Chapter 21

    Peter: Alright, so in Exodus 21, God said if a slave is bought then the owner can't send him away empty-handed. He's gotta give him some of his bread and wine and a few of his clothes, just like when you get a new phone from Verizon and they give you a free t-shirt!

  • Chapter 22

    Peter: Alright, first off in Exodus 22, the Lord tells Moses that if someone steals an ox or sheep and kills it or sells it, they have to pay back five oxen for the one they stole. Lois: Oh, wow! That's a lot of oxen.

  • Chapter 23

    Peter: Okay, so in Exodus 23, God tells Moses that he should never make a false promise and that he should stay away from wicked people. God also says that every seventh year, all debts should be cancelled and everyone should be allowed to go free.

  • Chapter 24

    Peter: Alright, so in Exodus 24, Moses and the elders of Israel went up to meet God on Mount Sinai and God told Moses to bring the people an offering. Stewie: So, what did they bring? The latest season of Game of Thrones?

  • Chapter 25

    Peter (as narrator): "And the Lord spoke to Moses in Exodus 25, telling him to create a tabernacle and all its furnishings. So, Moses told the Israelites to bring Him offerings of gold, silver, and bronze; blue, purple, and scarlet yarn; fine linen; and goat hair, tanned ram skins, and fine goatskin leather.

  • Chapter 26

    Peter: Okay, so in Exodus 26, God's like, 'Build a tabernacle out of acacia wood, and then cover it with curtains!' And then he's like, 'Make sure the curtains are made out of fine woven linen and blue, purple, and scarlet yarn.

  • Chapter 27

    Peter: Alright, so, Exodus 27. This time around, it's all about the altar of burnt offering. Apparently, it should be made of wood, and have four horns, and be five cubits long and five cubits wide. Oh, and it's gotta have four rings, too.

    Lois: Alright, so what'd we miss in Exodus 28? Peter: Oh, not much. Just some instructions from God on how to make a priestly outfit. You know, the kind they wear when they sacrifice animals. Lois: Ugh, that's gross.

  • Chapter 29

    Peter: Alright, so in this chapter we got Aaron and his sons, right? Lois: That's right, Peter. It's all about the priests, and how God is making them all official. Brian: Yeah, it's like God is giving them some sort of certification or something.

  • Chapter 30

    Peter: Alright, so in this chapter, God instructs Moses and the Israelites to build a special altar for burning incense. And he tells them to make a bronze basin for washing up with. Oh, and he also tells them to collect a special tax from each person in the community.

  • Chapter 31

    Peter: Alright, so this is Exodus 31. So what's it about, Lois? Lois: Well, Peter, in this chapter, God tells Moses to instruct the Israelites to observe the Sabbath day and keep it holy. He also tells Moses to build the tabernacle and furnish it with the special items God had commanded.

  • Chapter 32

    Peter: All right, so this is Exodus 32. Lois: Wow, it's been a wild ride so far! Brian: Yeah! So, what happens in this chapter? Peter: Well, after the Ten Commandments were written, it says the people of Israel started worshipping a golden calf.

  • Chapter 33

    Peter: Alright, so in Exodus 33, Moses is talking to God and he's like, "I want to know your ways." And God's like, "You can't see my face, but you can hang out with me and listen to me talk." Stewie: Like a soundboard!

  • Chapter 34

    [Peter Griffin] Hey there, folks! Welcome to this summary of Exodus 34. So, God tells Moses to cut two tablets of stone, just like the ones he smashed before. [Lois Griffin] Whoa, that's a bit extreme. [Peter] Yeah, but then God says he's gonna write the same commandments on 'em.

    Lois: Alright, so what's going on in this chapter? Peter: Oh, uh, something about the making of the tabernacle. Brian: Wow, sounds like a real snooze-fest. Lois: Peter, don't be so rude. Peter: Oh, come on, Lois.

  • Chapter 36

    Peter: Alright, so this is Exodus 36. Stewie: So what's happening? Moses: Well, in this chapter, Bezalel and Aholiab are instructed to build the tabernacle and all its furnishings. Peter: Just like in the movie, "The Ten Commandments" starring Charlton Heston! Stewie: I don't think that was in that movie, Peter.

  • Chapter 37

    Lois: Alright, so what's going on in Exodus 37? Peter: Let me see...Oh, it says that Bezalel made the Ark of the Covenant. It was made of acacia wood and was covered with gold both inside and out. He also put two cherubim at the top of it.

  • Chapter 38

    Peter: Okay guys, so Exodus 38 is all about the construction of the Tabernacle. Brian: Ah, the Tabernacle, a place of worship where the Israelites could come together to pray and make offerings to the Lord.

  • Chapter 39

    Peter: Okay, so in this chapter of Exodus, God tells Moses to make the priestly garments of fine linen and gold thread. And those included a breastplate with 12 precious stones, a turban, and a sash.

  • Chapter 40

    Peter: Alright, so this chapter is all about setting up the tent of meeting. So Moses instructs Aaron and his sons to set up the tent and all the furnishings. Brian: Wow, Moses sure was a task-master.
