Peter: "Hey Lois, I just finished reading Exodus 13 in the Bible. It's a real doozy."

Lois: "What's it about, Peter?"

Peter: "It's about the Lord instructing Moses and the Israelites to consecrate all the firstborn of their herds and flocks, and to set apart a lamb or a young goat from their herds as a Passover offering. Oh and he said to keep the blood of the lamb on their doorposts as a sign so that the Lord would 'pass over' the Israelites' homes when He struck down the firstborn of Egypt."

Lois: "That's wild. So, what else happened?"

Peter: "Oh yeah, then the Lord commanded Moses and the Israelites to remember the Passover and to celebrate it as a festival throughout their generations. They should also eat unleavened bread and bitter herbs during the festival."

Lois: "Bitter herbs? That sounds like a 'Game of Thrones' episode!"

Peter: "You got that right! And the Lord said to never forget the day they left Egypt, 'for on that day the Lord brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.' And then He said to tell their children the story of the Exodus so they'd remember it too."

Lois: "That's so cool! I'm definitely going to tell my kids about it the next time we read the Bible."

Peter: "You know it! Hey, you know what else this chapter reminds me of? The movie 'Soul Surfer'. Remember when Bethany Hamilton's dad said 'You can't move forward unless you let go of the past'?"

Lois: "Oh yeah, that's a great line. I guess it's true in the Bible too!"
