Folks! Listen, Jack. Here's the deal, I'm not joking. My father used to say, literally, when the Egyptians let the Israelites go, the Lord commanded Moses to consecrate all the firstborn, the first issue of every womb among the Israelites, for it was the Lord who delivered them from the land of Egypt. No malarkey! See here, Jack, you gotta remember - everyone was supposed to take a lamb for each family, a lamb for each household. That was the deal. Then, on the tenth day of the month, each family was supposed to slaughter their lamb. What was that? They had to put some of the blood on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they ate the lambs. C'mon, man! They had to roast the lamb and eat it that night, with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Excuse me, but no leftovers were allowed - they had to eat it all! Or uh, you know, they had to burn whatever was left in the morning. I tell you what, no way was there going to be any slavery in this deal. Not gonna happen.
