Listen, Jack, here's the deal: Exodus 30 is about a holy anointing oil that was used to consecrate the tabernacle and all the things in it. It was made from myrrh, cinnamon, cane and cassia and mixed with olive oil. It was pretty special stuff and only the priests could use it. Now, I'm not joking here, but my father used to say that the Lord said that anyone else who tried to use it would be cut off from the people. C'mon, man!
Then uh, you know, the Lord said that the people had to give him a ransom for each of their souls, which was a half-shekel. Not gonna happen if they were rich or poor, they all had to give the same amount. See here, Jack, he also said that they had to make a bronze washbasin and it's stand with a lot of details like knops and flowers and things.
Now, what was that? Oh yeah, the Lord said that Aaron and his sons had to wash their hands and feet in the basin every time they went into the tabernacle. He also said that they had to burn incense every morning and evening on the altar. And, excuse me, if they didn't do it, you know, he'd get mad and the people would die. Literally!
No malarkey, folks! That's what the Lord said in Exodus 30. I tell you what, it's a pretty important chapter.
