  • Numbers

    No malarkey, folks! Let me tell you about Numbers 1. My father used to say, “You can’t get it wrong if you count it out!” And that’s exactly what the Lord instructed Moses to do in Numbers 1. The Lord told Moses to take a census of all the men who were 20 years old and up in the tribes of Israel.

  • Deuteronomy

    Listen, Jack, here's the deal. We gotta go way back, folks. Deuteronomy 1 is all about the time the people of Israel were headed to the Promised Land. So, Moses is speaking to the people and he's telling them all the malarkey they gotta do to enter the Promised Land and live right.

  • Joshua

    Folks, I'm tellin' ya, you can't get any better than Joshua 1. C'mon, man! My father used to say that if you want to be successful, you gotta be like Joshua. That guy was like a superhero. He was anointed by God to lead the Israelites, see here, Jack? So the Lord tells Joshua to be strong and courageous and he'll give him the land of Canaan.

  • Judges

    Listen, Jack! Folks, this is the story of Judges 1 in the Bible. Here's the deal: After Joshua died, the people of Israel asked the Lord who should go up first to fight against the people of Canaan. The Lord said, "Judah shall go up!" So, Judah and his brothers went up and fought against the Canaanites and captured the city of Jerusalem.

  • Ruth

    Folks, listen up. Here's the deal. So, long time ago, there was this woman named Naomi, she had a husband and two sons. But tragedy struck when her husband and sons died, leaving her alone and without a husband or kids.

  • 1 Samuel

    Folks, here's the deal: 1 Samuel is all about a man named Elkanah and his family. Elkanah had two wives, and one of them, Hannah, wasn't able to have any kids. She was really sad about it and prayed to God for help.

  • 2 Samuel

    Folks, here's the deal: we already heard the sad news about Saul and Jonathan, right? I mean, literally, the Philistines killed them both in battle. That's why they wrote that song about them. My father used to say "Sometimes the Lord gives and sometimes the Lord takes away.

    Listen, Jack, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about here, so no malarkey, C'mon man! 2 Chronicles is all about the great King Solomon and his time on the throne of Israel. He was the son of King David, and the Lord raised him up to be a great leader.

  • Ezra

    Listen, Jack, c'mon man, this is a pretty crazy story: it all starts when King Cyrus of Persia issued a decree that the Jews could all go back to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple. Literally, I'm not joking, he said all the Jews who wanted to could go back to their homeland and start all over again.

  • Nehemiah

    Listen, Jack, no malarkey here: I'm telling you, this chapter is about Nehemiah. See, Nehemiah was an important man in the court of the King of Persia. He was a cup-bearer, which is like a butler, only better.

  • Esther

    Listen, Jack, here's the deal on Esther 1. King Ahasuerus was literally throwing a party and he was showing off his wealth to all the folks. It was a big deal, no malarkey! He showed off his riches in a seven day feast and then threw a banquet for all his nobles.

  • Job

    Listen, Jack, here's the deal. I tell you what, this Job fella was a righteous man, literally. He feared God and turned away from evil, no malarkey. The Lord was so pleased with Job that he said, "No one else on earth is as righteous as Job.

  • Psalms

    Folks! Here's the deal. See here, Jack, Psalms 1 is about this dude - no malarkey! - who is blessed by God, and he is doing all the right things. I'm not joking. He is not hanging out with the wrong crowd.

  • Proverbs

    C'mon, man! Here's the deal: Proverbs 1 starts off with a pretty wise guy, King Solomon, saying "Hey, Listen, Jack - my father used to say, 'get wisdom, get understanding', and I'm not joking here - if you do that, you'll be the real deal! See here, Jack - wisdom is the key to success.

  • Ecclesiastes

    Listen, Jack, I tell you what, Ecclesiastes 1 is about the vanity of all things, literally. I mean, y'know, no malarkey, here's the deal, you can work and work and work, but it all comes to nought. Or uh, y'know, no matter how much you have or how little, it all ends the same way.

  • Song of Solomon

    Folks, I tell ya what, when I read this chapter of the Bible, it takes me back to the days of my father, who used to say that if you want true love, it can be found in the Song of Solomon. I mean, literally, it's like the Bible is saying, "Hey, c'mon, man, you ain't gonna find no better love story than this!" See here, Jack, it's all about this woman who is madly in love with her man, and she's telling him how she'll love him forever, no malarkey.

  • Isaiah

    Folks, here's the deal. My father used to say, if you don't listen to God, no malarkey, literally, not gonna happen. See here, Jack: Isaiah 1 is about God getting mad at the people of Judah for their wickedness.

  • Jeremiah

    Listen, Jack, I'm not joking - here's the deal with Jeremiah 1. See, God called Jeremiah to be a prophet even before he was born, and said to him, "Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

  • Lamentations

    Folks! C'mon, man! Listen, Jack - here's the deal. This chapter in the Bible is about the city of Jerusalem - literally, the City of David. My father used to say that it was a place of greatness and joy, but now it's desolate and empty.

  • Ezekiel

    Folks, I'm not joking, here's the deal: Ezekiel had a vision of a storm cloud coming out of the north, with fire inside of it and a bright light. In the middle of the fire was something that looked like four living creatures.

  • Daniel

    Listen folks, no malarkey here. My father used to tell me a story about Daniel and his three friends, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, who were taken captive to Babylon by King Nebuchadnezzar. See here, Jack, the king wanted them to learn the language and literature of the Babylonians, so he put them in the care of Ashpenaz, one of his chief officials.

  • Hosea

    Folks, here's the deal. Hosea was a prophet during the time of the northern kingdom of Israel, and God told him to marry a woman who was going to be unfaithful. Now, that's no malarkey. See here, Jack, it was meant to be a sign to the people of Israel.

  • Joel

    Folks, I'm not gonna lie to you: Joel 1 is a doozy. It starts off with a bang, literally. Joel tells us that an invasion of locusts has come upon the land and destroyed everything that was once green and fruitful.

  • Amos

    Listen, Jack, here's the deal. Amos was a shepherd, c'mon man! He was literally called by God to tell the people of Israel that they were in trouble. They were worshiping idols and not honoring the Lord, and so God was sending them a warning.

  • Obadiah

    Folks, here's the deal. I'm gonna tell you about the book of Obadiah and what's in it. No malarkey. So, Obadiah is about a message from God to the Edomites. See here, Jack, Obadiah says the Edomites will be punished for their pride and arrogance and for the way they treated the people of Israel.

  • Jonah

    Folks, here's the deal—literally, no malarkey! My father used to say, "once in a blue moon, something incredible happens," and that's exactly what we see in the book of Jonah. See here, Jack, Jonah was a prophet of the Lord, and God told him to go to Nineveh and preach against their wickedness.

  • Micah

    Folks, here's the deal. My father used to say, back in the day, that you could always count on Micah for no malarkey. See here, Jack, what was that about Micah? Well, this is a book about prophecy and it starts out with a huge bang.

  • Nahum

    Hey, folks! Listen, Jack, here's the deal. Nahum is about the Lord and his anger with Nineveh. Literally, the Lord is a jealous and avenging God, and he will not let the people of Nineveh get away with their sin.

  • Habakkuk

    Listen, Jack, I tell you what, here's the deal. Habakkuk is one of those books in the Bible that, literally, my father used to say was written centuries ago. It's about God's message to the people of Judah.

  • Zephaniah

    Folks, here's the deal: I'm not joking when I say that Zephaniah 1 is a real doozy. See here, Jack, this chapter is literally all about God's judgment. My father used to say, "God will not leave the wicked unpunished.

  • Haggai

    Listen, Jack, c'mon, man! Here's the deal, folks, when God was still in charge of the world, back in 538 BC, my father used to say that He spoke through the prophet Haggai. He said, "You know, I'm not joking, why are you living in such fancy houses when the Temple of the Lord still lies in ruins?" See here, Jack, no malarkey! And I'm not joking, it starts off with a real eye-opener: the Lord's sending a message through this Zechariah fella to the people of Judah, saying, "I'm angry at the way you've been livin' your lives.

    Folks! Here's the deal: Malachi 1 — no malarkey! My father used to say, and I'm not joking, that this is a chapter of the Bible that literally talks about God's love for his people. And, see here, Jack: God says that his people have been treating his name with disrespect, and uh, you know, he's not gonna take it.

  • Matthew

    Listen, Jack. Here's what I got for ya. Matthew 1 is all about Jesus' family tree. It's literally a long list of names, so if you're not into that, you know, I'm not gonna force ya. But if you wanna know who Jesus' ancestors were, this is the chapter for ya.

  • Mark

    Listen, Jack, here's the deal. Back in the day, what was that, Jesus showed up in the Jordan River and got baptized by John the Baptist. That's right, no malarkey! Jesus was baptized in water, but the Holy Spirit descended on him like a dove, folks.

  • Luke

    Listen, Jack, it's time to get down to business. Here's the deal: we've got the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth from the Bible chapter of Luke 1. Now, Zechariah and Elizabeth, they were righteous in the eyes of God, but they had no kids.

    Folks, here's the deal: 1 Thessalonians is all about this great church in Thessalonica and the faith of its members. You know, they had endured such hardship and persecution, yet still remained strong in their faith and love for Jesus.

  • 2 Thessalonians

    Listen Jack, I'm not joking here. C'mon, man. Here's the deal. My father used to say, "God will judge all people, and He'll give relief to all who have faith in Him." That's what it says in 2 Thessalonians 1, and I'm not gonna let anyone forget it.

  • 1 Timothy

    Listen, Jack, c'mon, man! Here's the deal: Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ, is writing to Timothy, his true son in the faith. Paul is giving him instructions on how to lead the church and what to teach the people.

    Hey, folks! Here's the deal, no malarkey. See here, Jack, 2 Timothy 1 is all about how Paul, who was an apostle of Jesus Christ, sends his best wishes to Timothy, his beloved son in the faith. He's thankful for Timothy's faith and love, and he's praying that God's grace and peace will be with him.

    Listen, Jack, c'mon, man! No malarkey! Here's the deal. Titus is a faithful man, and Paul wants him to do a job. Literally, the job is to appoint elders in every city of Crete. See here, Jack, the elders must be above reproach, not double-minded, not given to malicious talk.

    Folks, here's the deal. I'm not joking, see here, Jack, Philemon was a real stand-up guy. He was a beloved brother in the Lord, c'mon, man! I mean, he had a good heart, he was full of faith and the love of Jesus.

  • Revelation

    Hey folks! Here's the deal: we got Revelation 1, the last chapter of the Bible. It starts off with the Apostle John, who literally saw visions from God of things to come. My father used to say that God's justice is firm, and here we see it in action.
