No malarkey, folks! Let me tell you about Numbers 1. My father used to say, “You can’t get it wrong if you count it out!” And that’s exactly what the Lord instructed Moses to do in Numbers 1. The Lord told Moses to take a census of all the men who were 20 years old and up in the tribes of Israel. See here, Jack, that was no small task. Literally, they had to count over 600,000 men! And, excuse me, they had to do it according to their families, the sons of Israel. I'm not joking, they even had to count the Levites who were responsible for the Tabernacle. C'mon, man! Talk about a big job. But, what was that? God told Moses to appoint some men to help him with the census. That's the deal. Here's the deal, Jack. No matter what, the Lord said, “The number of the children of Israel shall be as the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured nor numbered; and it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people, there it shall be said unto them, Ye are the sons of the living God.” So, or, uh, you know, even though the task was daunting, it was worth it in the end. Not gonna happen, folks, that the children of Israel could ever be counted out.
