Listen, Jack, here's the deal. The folks in the book of Numbers were looking for a place to live, and they thought they could settle in the land of Gilead. I'm not joking, this was literally thousands of years ago. So the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half-tribe of Manasseh came to Moses and said, "C'mon man, let us take possession of the land of Gilead." Excuse me, Moses said, "What was that? You want to stay here, but not fight with the rest of us?" Not gonna happen, I tell you what. So they said they would fight with the rest of the Israelites, but they wanted to keep their families safe in this land of Gilead. My father used to say, "If you make a promise, keep it." That's why Moses agreed they could keep their families safe in Gilead, but they had to fight with the other Israelites and help them take possession of the land. No malarkey! See here, Jack, this is the kind of commitment the Israelites had to their beliefs. Let's all take a minute to remember that.
