Listen, Jack, c'mon man, here's the deal. 3 John is about a man named Gaius and his friend, John. Gaius is doing a great job in his church and John is telling him to keep up the good work. He's taking care of the people in his church, and helping the traveling missionaries, and he's doing it all in the name of the Lord. So, John is really proud of him and wants him to keep it up. He also wants Gaius to stay strong, despite any opposition he might face. He's telling Gaius to stay true to the Lord, and not to let anyone try to stop him from doing the right thing. My father used to say, "No malarkey," and that's what John is telling Gaius in this chapter. He's telling him to stay strong, keep doing the right thing, and don't let anyone get in his way. Excuse me, see here, Jack, no malarkey.
