Listen, Jack, here's the deal. In the book of Exodus 28, God tells Moses to have the people of Israel make holy garments for Aaron, the high priest. My father used to say, "Aaron will have a breastplate, an ephod, a robe, a turban, and a sash. C'mon, man, they must be made of the finest fabrics, with gold, and blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine linen." Excuse me, I'm not joking. See here, Jack, the breastplate was to be made of gold and set with twelve jewels, each engraved with the name of one of the twelve tribes of Israel. Or uh, you know, the ephod was to be made of gold, blue, purple, and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and it was to be decorated with two onyx stones, each engraved with six names of the twelve tribes of Israel. What was that? A robe of blue, a turban of fine linen, and a sash of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn. Literally, this was to be the priestly attire. Folks, no malarkey, the people of Israel made these garments according to God's instructions, and Aaron was clothed with them. I tell you what, we have been following these instructions for thousands of years. It is not gonna happen that we will ever forget them.
