Batman: Alright Robin, in Exodus 13 we are told about the Lord's command to Moses to consecrate all the firstborn of the children of Israel, and to redeem them with a lamb or an unblemished kid of the goats.

Robin: Wow, Batman, that sure is an important command! How are the people of Israel supposed to remember this?

Batman: The Lord commands them to observe this day as a memorial and keep it as a feast day throughout their generations. They are to observe it as a statute forever.

Catwoman: Oh, I get it. It's like a reminder of how the Lord saved them from slavery in Egypt and brought them out into the wilderness.

Batman: Exactly, Catwoman. The Lord also commanded that the children of Israel were to put a sign of redemption on their hand and forehead, and that when their children asked about it, they were to tell them about the Lord's deliverance from slavery in Egypt.

Robin: So it's a sign of freedom!

Batman: Yes, Robin. And a reminder of the Lord's power.
