    Batman: An Amalekite has shown up at the gates of Jerusalem, carrying news of Saul's death. Robin: Wow, that's terrible! What happened? Batman: Apparently Saul and his sons were killed in battle by the Philistines.

    Batman: Robin, I have just heard news of a great battle between two armies in the lands of Judah. Robin: Who was fighting, Batman? Batman: The armies of Saul's son, Ishbosheth, and of David. It seems that David's forces have emerged victorious.

  • Chapter 3

    Batman: Robin, it appears that 2 Samuel 3 is a chapter filled with many wars and battles! David's dynastic ambitions were not easily achieved. Robin: You're right, Batman! There was a long-standing feud between David's house and the house of Saul.

  • Chapter 4

    Robin: Holy Smokes, Batman! It looks like we've stumbled upon a chapter from the Bible. Batman: Yes, Robin. We're in 2 Samuel 4. Catwoman: Well, what does it say? Batman: It looks like it's about a man named Ishbosheth who had been anointed king of Israel.

    Robin: Holy Bible, Batman! The Philistines are attacking the City of David! Batman: Not to worry, Robin. The Lord is with David, and He will deliver the city from the Philistine's hands. Joker: Ha ha ha! No way! The Philistines are too strong.

    Batman: "Holy Scripture, Robin! We're here to talk about 2 Samuel 6!" Robin: "Gosh, Batman, what does this chapter say?" Batman: "It tells of King David's attempt to bring the Ark of the Covenant back to Jerusalem.

    Batman: Robin! Have you read the latest chapter of the Bible? Robin: Yes, Batman, it's 2 Samuel 7. Batman: Ah, yes. The Lord promised King David that his dynasty would endure forever. Catwoman: He also promised to dwell in the temple David had wanted to build.

    Batman: Robin! It looks like King David has just conquered the Philistines and Moabites! Robin: Holy victories, Batman! Catwoman: You mean he conquered them in the name of the Lord! Riddler: That's right! And he also defeated Hadadezer, the king of Zobah, and recovered all of his stolen gold and silver.

    Batman: Robin, I've heard of an incredible story of kindness and mercy. Robin: What is it, Batman? Batman: It is recorded in 2 Samuel 9. Apparently, King David wanted to show kindness to any of the family of Saul who remained.

    Batman: "Greetings, Robin! In this chapter of the Bible, King David sends Joab and his men to battle against the Syrians. He defeats them and takes their gold and silver." Robin: "Golly, that's amazing! How did they pull it off?"

    Robin: Holy Scripture, Batman! What does 2 Samuel 11 say? Batman: It’s a sad tale, Robin. The chapter starts off with King David staying in Jerusalem instead of going out to fight with his troops. Catwoman: How very un-regal of him!

    Robin: Holy Book of Books, Batman! What is this chapter about? Batman: It's about the prophet Nathan confronting King David about his sins. Joker: Oh, I love a good moral lesson! Robin: What did David do wrong?

    Batman: Robin, when we last left off, Absalom had been killed and David had returned to Jerusalem to reclaim the throne. Robin: That's right, Batman. Now, in 2 Samuel 17, a certain Ahithophel advises Absalom's supporters to pursue David and take the throne back.

  • Chapter 18

    (Batman and Robin are standing in the Batcave, discussing the events of 2 Samuel 18) Batman: Greetings, old chum! We must now turn our attention to 2 Samuel 18. Robin: Right, Batman! It appears that David has divided his army into three parts and is sending them into battle against Absalom.

    Batman: Robin, it appears that King David is returning to his throne in Jerusalem. Robin: Holy reconciliation, Batman! Joker: Oh, what's this? A happy ending? I'm out of here! Batman: Not so fast, Joker! The people of Israel are still divided.

    Batman: Robin, it looks like we've got trouble in this chapter of the Bible. Robin: What is it, Batman? Batman: Sheba, the son of Bichri, has led a rebellion against David. Robin: Oh no! What are we going to do?
