Listen, Jack, here's the deal. I tell ya, I'm not joking, Psalms 39 covers a lot of ground. My father used to say, "No malarkey! Life is short, and so is our time on this Earth. C'mon, man, you're gonna have to make the most of it!" See here, Jack, the psalmist starts off by saying, "I said, 'I will watch my ways, so that I do not sin with my tongue.'" Excuse me, but literally, it's like he's trying to stay on the straight and narrow. What was that? He's trying to stay focused and keep his mouth shut. Or uh, you know, not say anything he'll regret. "I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me." I mean, it's like he's trying to put a muzzle on himself. Not gonna happen! But it's a good reminder to think before you speak, right? Yeah, that's right. And then, he's begging the Lord to take away his pain and suffering. Because, here's the deal, he's realized that all of his strivings and worries are meaningless. So, he turns to the Lord for help. Folks, it's a powerful reminder that we should put our hope and trust in the Lord at all times.
