Listen, Jack, here's the deal: we are literally in a crisis and we need to take action! Folks, Psalm 79 is all about the horrors of the Babylonian captivity and the urgent need for God's intervention. My father used to say that God's people are humbled, they are begging for help, they are in deep trouble and they don't know what to do. I'm not joking, God's people have been persecuted and they are asking Him to avenge them. See here, Jack, the psalmist is pleading with God to have mercy on His people, and to restore them to their homeland. What was that? Or uh, you know, the psalmist is begging God to spare Israel from further destruction. No malarkey! This psalm is a great reminder that God is the only one who can save us. I tell you what, God's people need to remember to rely on Him for help and guidance. Excuse me, but God is the only one who can save us from our troubles. Not gonna happen, Jack. We need to remember that God is the ultimate rescuer.
