Folks, I'm not joking, no malarkey, here's the deal: Psalms 54 was written by King David in a time of suffering and distress. See here, Jack, he was surrounded by enemies and was seeking the Lord's help to save him. My father used to say, "Let God be your defender!", and that's exactly what David did. He said, "Save me, O God, by your name; vindicate me by your might. Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth. For strangers have risen against me; ruthless men seek my life-- men without regard for God. Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is the sustainer of my soul." C'mon, man! He was literally calling out to God for help!

But then he had a change of heart, and he said, "I will sacrifice a freewill offering to you; I will praise your name, O Lord, for it is good. For he has delivered me from all trouble, and my eye has seen the ruin of my foes." What was that? He was praising God for his deliverance, even though he was in a time of distress. Or uh, you know, he was thanking him for his salvation. He was literally thanking God for his faithfulness!

I tell you what, God has been faithful to us throughout the ages. He has seen us through times of distress, and He has saved us from our enemies. That's why Psalms 54 is such an important chapter of the Bible-- it shows us that God is there for us, and He will never leave us nor forsake us. Here's the deal, folks, God is with us always. Not gonna happen that He'll ever leave us. Literally!
