Peter: Alrighty, so we're talkin' about Jeremiah.

Lois: Yeah, he's God's prophet and he's been sent to deliver a message to the Israelites.

Stewie: Oh, so he's like me, a messenger of doom.

Brian: Ah, not quite. He's trying to tell them to turn back to God and to stop worshiping false idols.

Peter: Ah, so like, stop worshiping the golden arches, or something?

Lois: No, Peter, not McDonald's. He's talking about idols like the Baals and Ashtaroth.

Stewie: Hey, isn't that the villain in the new Avengers movie?

Brian: No, Stewie, that's Thanos.

Peter: Anyways, so like, why did they turn away from God?

Lois: Well, the Lord said that they had forgotten all the wonderful things that He had done for them and had refused to walk in His ways.

Stewie: Ugh, how ungrateful!

Brian: Yeah, like, they were living in luxury, but they refused to obey the Lord.

Peter: Yeah, I mean, God gave them all these wonderful things and they just threw it away.

Lois: Exactly. So, the Lord is warning them about what will happen if they don't turn back to Him.

Stewie: What kind of punishment?

Brian: He's gonna send them away into captivity in a foreign land and they will be exiled from their homeland.

Peter: Whoa, that's rough. So, what happened?

Lois: Well, the people still refused to turn back to God, so the Lord had to punish them. They were taken away into captivity and it was all because they had forgotten God and refused to obey His commands.
