Listen, Jack, here's the deal: In Jeremiah 2, God is fed up with the people of Israel and Judah. He says they have forsaken Him, the fountain of living water, and dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water. He calls them fools and asks them, "What was that?", because they have forsaken Him for the worthless idols of the nations around them. He reminds them that even when He brought them out of Egypt, they did not obey Him, no malarkey! I tell you what, My father used to say that He has sent prophets to them, but they have not listened. He says He will make them a laughingstock for the nations around them. He asks them, "What wrong did your ancestors find in Me that they went far from Me and followed worthless idols?" See here, Jack, this is not gonna happen - I'm not joking - He will bring them back to Himself and they will know He is the Lord. He will make them like a swift horse, they will not be able to turn away from Him. Excuse me, but the Lord says, "You shall not call me 'My Father' anymore," because He is not the Father of the people anymore. They have literally turned away from Him and not followed His ways. He will make them ashamed and humiliated, and they will remember their evil deeds and abominations. C'mon, man!
