Listen, Jack, here's the deal. Jeremiah 48 is about Moab, an ancient kingdom in what is now Jordan. It says that the Lord is gonna bring disaster on Moab for their arrogance and pride. So, no malarkey! Literally, he says that he's gonna cut off every one of Moab's fortresses, and that the cities will be destroyed. C'mon, man! My father used to say, "You reap what you sow." I'm not joking. Moab will be taken away into captivity and scattered among the nations. See here, Jack, no one will save them. And, get this, their cities will become desolate, and no one will live there. What was that? As if that wasn't bad enough, the Lord declares that he will bring disaster on Moab, and not gonna happen that their neighbor Ammon will be spared. He says that he'll make the land of Moab an object of horror and scorn. Excuse me, folks! He will make sure that none of them will be left, that none of their people will be left in the land of Moab. So, I tell you what, if you don't believe it, just look at what happened to Moab a long time ago.
