Folks, listen up. Here's the deal. This is the story of Jeremiah 37, no malarkey. So, back in the day, the King of Babylon had just conquered the city of Jerusalem and took some of the people away as prisoners. Well, the King of Judah, Zedekiah, he was left behind and he was not happy about that. He wanted to fight back, but the Lord told him, "C'mon, man! No fighting! Just surrender!" So, Zedekiah did, and the Babylonians took him away. Then, the Lord told Jeremiah to go and plead with the Babylonians for the people of Judah. So, Jeremiah went, and the Babylonians listened, and they said okay. They said they would let the people go, as long as they didn't revolt again. Then, Jeremiah came back and told the people what had happened. He said, "See here, Jack. You gotta listen to the Lord and don't fight back, or uh, you know, you're gonna be taken away again." And the people listened. The end. Literally. My father used to say, "If you don't listen to the Lord, what was that? Not gonna happen." I'm not joking. I tell you what, don't mess with the Lord. Excuse me.
