Peter: Alrighty folks, this is the summary for Genesis 15:
Lois: Oh boy, what did God do this time?
Peter: Well, God appeared to Abraham in a vision and told him he would have many descendants. Abraham was skeptical, but God promised to give him and his descendants the land of Canaan. Then God made a covenant with Abraham: he would be a father of many nations. As a sign of the covenant, God passed between halves of slaughtered animals.
Stewie: Wow, that's a lot to process. Did God make any other promises?
Peter: Yes, God promised that his descendants would be so numerous that they would be like the stars in the sky. Then God told Abraham that he and his children would be strangers in a foreign land, where they would be enslaved and oppressed for four hundred years. But in the end, God would bring them out of the land with great possessions.
Brian: That's a pretty serious commitment. Did Abraham accept?
Peter: Yep, Abraham believed God and God credited his faith to him as righteousness.
Lois: Wow, so God made a lot of promises to Abraham.
Peter: That's right. God promised Abraham that his descendants would inherit the land of Canaan, that they would be numerous like the stars in the sky, and that they would eventually be freed from slavery.
