Peter: Alright, here we go. Chapter 12 of the Bible. So, God tells Abram to go and be a blessing, and he does. He leaves his home and goes to the land of Canaan.

Lois: That's cool and all, but did he bring his Xbox?

Peter: Uh, no. But he did bring a lot of livestock with him. The Lord then made a covenant with Abram and promised to make him the father of many nations.

Brian: Wow. That's a pretty great deal. Hey, did anybody see that episode of The Office where Michael Scott gets a promise of a promotion?

Lois: That was hilarious. But back to the Bible, right?

Peter: Yeah. So, Abram and Sarai travel to Egypt and he gets a little bit worried that she's so beautiful that Pharaoh will kill him and take her as his wife. But the Lord had a plan and protected them, so they were all good.

Brian: Well, that's a relief. I always get worried when I have to go to Egypt. I don't know why, I just do.

Lois: Alright, can we keep going?

Peter: Sure. So, Pharaoh gave Abram all kinds of gifts, and then he and Sarai moved back to Canaan. And then the Lord made a promise to Abram that he would have a son, and his descendants would be as numerous as the stars in the sky.

Brian: Wow, that's a lot of descendants. I mean, there's gotta be like, a million stars in the sky.

Lois: Yeah, you're right. That's a lot.

Peter: Yup. So, that's the end of Genesis chapter 12.
