Peter: Alright, so 2 Samuel 14. Brian, you wanna take it?

Brian: Sure. So, a woman approaches King David and tells him her story. She's the daughter of an exiled family, and her son is dead. She wants to bury him in the royal cemetery. David's like, "D'oh! That's a tough one, but I'll see what I can do."

Peter: And then he gives her a really heartfelt speech about how he wishes he could help her, but he can't. So he sends her home with a bunch of gifts and a message for her husband to come back from exile.

Brian: Right. Meanwhile, Joab, the King's army commander, is like, "Hey, this is a great opportunity. Let's use it to bring the family back!" And he comes up with a plan.

Peter: Yeah, he arranges for the woman to go back to the King and tell him a different story. She says that her husband was actually faithful to the King and never left, but was falsely accused of treason.

Brian: And it works! The King grants her husband amnesty and restores him to the royal court. So Joab gets all the credit and the family is reunited.

Peter: Sounds like a happy ending!

Brian: Unless you're a Lannister...
