Peter: Ok, so Chapter 23 of 2 Samuel is when King David is in his old age and he's reflecting on his life.

Lois: Ooh, so what happened?

Peter: Well, David says that he's been blessed by the Lord and that he's done a lot of good deeds. He also talks about his mighty men and the battles they fought.

Brian: Battles? What kind of battles?

Peter: Uhh, let's see....one battle was against the Philistines and the other was against the Syrians.

Lois: Wow, Philistines and Syrians? Sounds like a scene from Game of Thrones!

Peter: Right! So, then King David lists off the names of all his mighty men and talks about their heroic deeds. And then he says that God is his Rock and his Fortress.

Brian: That's nice. God's like the ultimate bodyguard!

Lois: Yeah, like a super-powered Batman!

Peter: Hehe, yeah, that's a good one. So, then the chapter ends with David saying that God is his light, his salvation, and his stronghold.

Brian: Like a Gandalf-type figure!

Lois: Exactly!
