Well, folks, if you're looking for a cheery, upbeat chapter of the Bible, you can skip Psalms 57, 'cause it ain't it. We meet the psalmist who's afraid of his enemies, and he's crying out to God for help. He prays that God will be merciful, hide him in his wings, and then rain down judgment on his enemies. And sure enough, God shows up, and the psalmist gives him a big shout-out. But, you know, the enemies are still there. So the psalmist begs that God will crush them, and then he's gonna sing and play music and make a big ol' joyful noise. So, yeah, that's Psalms 57: an uplifting story of a guy looking for divine intervention to rid himself of his enemies.
