• Chapter 1

    Well, folks, it's been a long time comin', but Nehemiah got the call to action he's been waiting for. He heard the news that his people, the Jews, were in a bad spot. So Nehemiah spent a few days in prayer, asking God to give him the strength to do what he knew he must do—go back to Jerusalem and rebuild the walls.

  • Chapter 2

    Well, folks, we're back to Nehemiah, and boy, is this a wild one. King Artaxerxes has taken a liking to Nehemiah, and so he gives Nehemiah permission to go back to Jerusalem and rebuild its walls. Nehemiah then travels to Jerusalem and meets with the Jewish elders.

  • Chapter 3

    Hey, it's Norm MacDonald here, with a summary of Nehemiah 3. You know, this chapter is all about fixing walls, and it's kinda like the world's first home improvement show. So, Eliashib, who is a priest, is the one with the hammer and the nails, and he starts working on the wall near the Sheep Gate.

  • Chapter 4

    So, in Nehemiah 4, the people of Israel were rebuilding the wall around Jerusalem. Everybody worked hard, except for Sanballat and Tobiah, who were like, "Ugh, why are you bothering with this wall? We don't really care!" But Nehemiah was like, "You know what? We're gonna finish this wall, and we're gonna finish it fast!" So they worked hard and finished quickly, and Sanballat and Tobiah were like, "Ha! We told you it wouldn't work!" But Nehemiah was like, "Oh yeah? Well, it did work, and it looks great!" So they finished the wall and they were all happy.

    So in Nehemiah 5, the Israelites are getting kinda messed up. You know, they're getting into debt, they're mortgaging their land and their kids, and it's bad. So Nehemiah steps in and he's like, "Hey, this isn't cool.

    Alright folks, it's time to update you on Nehemiah 6. So, Sanballat and his buddies are trying to get Nehemiah to come out and meet with them, but Nehemiah ain't buying it. He knows they just want to get the upper hand, so he's like, "Nah, I'm good.

  • Chapter 7

    So, let's take a look at Nehemiah 7. Well, it's all about the rebuilding of Jerusalem, and the people are really getting into the spirit of it. So, the city walls are up and the gates are ready to go. But, apparently, the people had forgotten one key component: security! So, Nehemiah appoints a guard of officials to stand watch over the city, and to make sure that no one gets in who shouldn't.

    Well, this week on Nehemiah 8, we've got a real classic. Apparently, the Israelites are all gathering together to hear Ezra the priest read from the book of the law of God. It's like a big community read-along, with everyone understanding what's going on.

  • Chapter 9

    Norm here, and it's time for a deep dive into the Bible - specifically Nehemiah 9! In this chapter, we've got a bunch of people gathering together in Jerusalem to confess their sins. They start off by praising the Lord and His covenant with the Israelites, but then the Israelites start to complain about all the evil things they've done.

    Good evening, I'm Norm MacDonald and this is Weekend Update. So in Nehemiah 10, it's all about a covenant. The people of Israel come together and swear a solemn oath to keep the law, and they pledge to follow God's commands and pay their taxes.

    Ah, Nehemiah 11. Where to begin? So, the people of Israel have decided to repopulate Jerusalem, and they're doing it in style. They're drawing lots, and they're deciding who gets to live in the holy city.

    Well, folks, it's time to check out Nehemiah 12. In this chapter we see the people of Israel celebrating the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem. They had a huge parade that included singing and the blowing of trumpets.

    Alright, folks, so here's the rundown on Nehemiah 13: a bunch of Israelites had married foreign women, and Nehemiah was mad. He kicked the men out and made them give back the presents they'd given their wives.
