    Hey, folks, it's me, Norm MacDonald, here with a chapter-by-chapter summary of the Bible. First up: Judges 1. In this chapter, we learn that the Israelites were unable to drive out the inhabitants of the land, despite the Lord's promise that they could.

  • Chapter 2

    Hey, folks, this week we're looking at Judges 2. It's a wild one. So, in this chapter, God gets mad at the Israelites for not following his commandments and he sends a messenger to tell them they're gonna be punished.

  • Chapter 3

    Welcome to the third chapter of Judges, everybody! Now, we all know things have been pretty quiet in the land of Israel and the surrounding areas, but that all changes in this chapter. We got some bad news, folks: the Lord left some of the nations there to test Israel and see if they would obey his commands.

    "In Judges Chapter 4, we find one of the most inspiring stories of all time. It's the story of Deborah, a brave and heroic woman who led the people of Israel to victory over the Canaanites. She called on Barak to lead an army of 10,000 in a battle against the oppressive enemy, and the Israelites were victorious.

    Judges 5: Here's a real bummer: Israel's enemies are attacking, and the people are crying out for help. But no one comes to their aid...except for Deborah, a prophetess who summons Barak to lead the people against their oppressors.

    Hey, everyone, it's Norm MacDonald here with the latest from the world's greatest book, the Bible. In Judges 6, we meet Gideon, a guy who's less than confident about his ability to save his people from the Midianites.

  • Chapter 7

    Good evening, I'm Norm MacDonald, and this is *Weekend Update*! So, let's talk about *Judges 7*. Gideon had a plan to fight the Midianites: He sent out all his troops that were afraid to stay, leaving only 300 brave men to battle against the enemy's 135,000! But, God promised Gideon victory if he trusted Him.

  • Chapter 8

    "Well, folks, in the Bible this week, we've got a real wild one. In Judges 8, the Israelites enlist the help of the Midianites to help them fight against their enemies, the Ephraimites. But then things get really complicated when Gideon, the leader of the Israelites, turns around and kills the Midianite kings.

  • Chapter 9

    Well, it's Judges 9, and boy is it a doozy. We got Gideon's son Abimelech who's tryin' to be king. He goes and bribes some people to make it happen, then murders his 70 brothers to make sure they don't get in his way.

  • Chapter 10

    Alright, Judges 10. So, after Jephthah had been ruling over Israel for six years, the Ammonites became a problem yet again. So, Jephthah and the Israelites go and battle the Ammonites, and they are successful, thanks to a prayer to God.

  • Chapter 11

    Well, folks, it looks like we've got another winner in the 'Who's the Worst Biblical Character?' sweepstakes. It's Jephthah! This guy lives in Gilead and makes a deal with some of the elders there to help fight against the Ammonites, but only if they make him their leader.

  • Chapter 12

    Okay, in Judges 12, we got a real wild one! We got a dude named Jephthah, and he gets into a fight with the Ephraimites and ends up winning. So then all the Ephraimites are mad, and they try to get him to prove he's from Gilead.

  • Chapter 13

    Hey, folks, it's Norm MacDonald here for Weekend Update. So, if you thought the Bible was all about peace and love, well, you'd be wrong. This week, we're checking out Judges Chapter 13, and it's a doozy.

  • Chapter 14

    Hey, folks, it's me, Norm MacDonald here with another chapter of the Bible. This time we've got Judges 14. This is the one with Samson, and boy, what a guy! He's looking for a wife, and he seems to have a type: Philistine women.

  • Chapter 15

    Well folks, in Judges 15, we got a real wild one. So it starts off with Samson going back to his wife after a little break-up. But then it turns out she'd been given away to someone else. So naturally, Samson goes and kills a whole bunch of Philistines and then sets a field on fire.

  • Chapter 16

    Hey, all right, it's time for a chapter summary of Judges 16. This one's a real doozy. So, Samson's all in love with this woman named Delilah, and the Philistines have paid her to figure out the source of Samson's strength.

  • Chapter 17

    Well, folks, if you're lookin' for a teachable moment, then Judges Chapter 17 has one for ya. This is a story of a guy named Micah who had a Levite as his priest. Now, Micah wasn't a religious dude by any means, but he was a crafty one.

  • Chapter 18

    Hey, everyone, it's Norm MacDonald with your Bible Update. This week we'll be looking at Judges 18. In this chapter we meet the tribe of Dan and their search for a new home. So, they send out 5 spies to scout out some land and find a place to settle.

  • Chapter 19

    Well, this one takes us back to the Bible's wild and wonderful days of yore. In Judges 19, we meet a Levite who has a concubine. But the concubine runs away, so the Levite sets out to find her. After a long search, he finds her in her father's house, and they stay there for a few days.

  • Chapter 20

    So, "Judges" Chapter 20 - it's a real mess. Basically, all the tribes of Israel get together and decide to go to war against the Benjamites, because they had some dudes kidnap a couple of women. These women were from the town of Jabesh-gilead.

  • Chapter 21

    So, Judges 21: Everyone is super sad about the death of the beloved priest, so they all make a pact to not give any of their daughters to the men of Benjamin to marry. Well, apparently that leaves Benjamin with no wives, so the Israelites come up with a plan.
