Peter: Hey Lois, have you heard about Judges 10?

Lois: Yeah, I think it’s something about a guy named Jephthah being a judge in Israel.

Peter: Well, I don’t know about that, but it does say that the people of Israel were doing evil in the eyes of the Lord and were worshiping the false gods of the Ammonites. So God was mad and he sold them into the hands of their enemies.

Brian: So, like, God was the ultimate '90s mom?

Lois: (Rolls eyes) I guess you could say that.

Peter: So then the people of Israel cried out to the Lord for help and God heard their cries. He sent Jephthah to save them. He fought against the Ammonites and won.

Brian: Wow, so Jephthah was like a real-life superhero!

Lois: Yeah, I guess you could say that. Anyways, the people of Israel then asked Jephthah to be their judge and he accepted.

Peter: And then the Lord was pleased with their decision and blessed them with peace.

Brian: So it was like a happy ending, right? Like a Disney movie?

Lois: Yeah, kinda. I guess you could say that.
