C'mon, man! Here's the deal -- 1 Samuel 8 is all about the people of Israel asking for a king. See here, Jack, it's like this -- my father used to say that the people wanted to be like all the other nations around them and have a king to lead them. I mean, excuse me, when I was a kid, can you believe it, the people of Israel said no malarkey to the Lord. Literally! Listen, Jack, they said, "No, we want a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles." Well, I'm not joking, that's what they said. Well, I tell you what, what was that? Or uh, you know, God allowed them to have a king, but he warned them that the king would take their sons and daughters, their fields and crops and vineyards, and make them work for him. Not gonna happen! I mean, folks, he even said that the king would take the best of their flocks and herds and use them for his own purposes. So, yeah, I mean, that's all in 1 Samuel 8.
