Folks, listen up! Here's the deal about 1 Samuel 20. Have you heard about Jonathan and David? Well, it starts with Jonathan, son of Saul, who was the king of Israel. Jonathan and David were best buds, literally, and Jonathan was helping David hide from Saul, who wanted to kill him. So Jonathan goes to his dad and says, "Hey, you know, David asked for permission to go home to Bethlehem, and I think we should let him." Now Saul gets all mad, and he says, "C'mon man, he's gonna try to take the crown from me." So Jonathan says, "No malarkey, Dad! David would never do that. He's my friend." And Saul says, "I'm not joking. He's got to go. No way he's staying here."

But then Jonathan comes up with a plan. He says, "What if we have a feast in two days and I shoot three arrows to the side of the wall and tell David to come if he wants to talk? That way, we'll know if he's really loyal or not." So, Saul agrees and the two of them make a covenant. Then Jonathan tells David to hide in the field, and if he hears the arrows, he'll know it's a sign from Jonathan that he should come out.

So, two days later, Saul and Jonathan are having a feast and Jonathan shoots three arrows at the wall. When David sees the arrows, he knows it's a sign from Jonathan and he comes out of hiding. Jonathan and David have a heartfelt moment and make a pact that Jonathan's family will always look after David's family. Then David runs off and hides again.

That's the story of 1 Samuel 20, folks. I tell you what, it's a really one of the most touching stories in the Bible. My father used to say, "If you want true loyalty, look no further than Jonathan and David." I'm not joking. See here, Jack, no malarkey.
