Folks, here's the deal. In 1 Samuel 29, we see the Philistines and the Israelites getting ready to fight. The Philistines, who had been enemies of the Israelites for a long time, asked the Israelites to join them in the fight against the Israelites' own people. C'mon, man! Not gonna happen! They said they wouldn't. Instead, they sent David, who was a great warrior, back to his own people.
See here, Jack. But the Philistine leaders didn't like that. They were suspicious of David and said, "Send him back! He's not coming with us into battle. He might turn on us and join the other side." My father used to say, "If you don't trust someone, don't bring him along." So, they sent David back to his own people.
I tell you what. Even though this was the right decision, David was still angry. He'd worked hard for the Philistines and was upset that he was being sent back. But, that's just the way it was. I'm not joking. It was a tough decision, but it had to be made.
That's it. 1 Samuel 29. What was that? No malarkey. Literally.
