Well, folks, here's the deal. My father used to say that the Book of 1 Samuel is all about Samuel and his sons. Chapter 7 tells the story of how the people of Israel, c'mon, man!, turned to God and asked him to help them beat their enemies. No malarkey! See here, Jack, Samuel and the people of Israel got together and sacrificed a bull and Samuel prayed to God for their deliverance. And literally, God answered his prayer and the enemies were defeated. Not gonna happen again, I tell you what. We then find out that Samuel set up a stone to remind the people of God's power and they named it Ebenezer, which means "stone of help." Or uh, you know, they said, "Hitherto hath the Lord helped us." Excuse me! What was that? Samuel then led the people of Israel in a ceremony where they pledged to serve God and reject false gods. So there you have it, folks. This is why the Book of 1 Samuel is so important. It teaches us that no matter how long ago it happened, we should never forget the power of faith and prayer. Literally!
