Batman: Greetings, Robin. We find ourselves in a rather precarious situation. The people of Israel have just heard the report of the twelve spies that Moses sent to spy out the land of Canaan.

Robin: That's right, Batman. The spies reported that the land is a bountiful land, but that it is inhabited by powerful peoples.

Joker: Ha ha ha! That's why it's called the Promised Land, my man!

Batman: Unfortunately, the people of Israel are frightened by the report and they have decided to rebel against God, refusing to enter the land.

Robin: That's right, Batman. They have even gone so far as to appoint a leader to lead them back to Egypt.

Catwoman: Oh, that's not good. This is surely a test of the people's faith in God.

Batman: Indeed it is, Catwoman. But God is merciful and willing to forgive. He decides to punish the people, but not as severely as they deserve. He has promised to bring them into the Promised Land, but the adults will not live to enter it. Only their children will be allowed to enter.

Robin: So, God is giving the people a second chance to prove their faith in him.

Joker: Ha ha ha! Well, that's one way to teach 'em a lesson!
