Peter: Alright, so in Joshua 23, God tells Joshua to make sure the Israelites stick to their covenant and follow God's commands. He also reminds them to never worship other gods or make any treaties with the surrounding nations.

Lois: Oh yeah, and then God reminds them that if they don't keep the covenant, He will punish them, right?

Peter: Yup, and then Joshua gathers all the tribes of Israel together and tells them that they have to remain strong and true to God and that they need to stay away from idolatry.

Lois: Wait, idolatry? What happened to all that talk about the "Idol of the Week" show on the CW?

Peter: That's a totally different thing, Lois. This is about worshipping false gods.

Brian: But it does make for some pretty good TV...I mean, the showrunners certainly know how to milk the drama for all its worth.

Lois: Brian, focus! So, Joshua tells them to stay true to God and not worship false gods. What else?

Peter: Well, he also reminds them that they need to take possession of the land that God promised them, and that they have to remain strong and courageous and not be afraid of the enemy. He also tells them that he won't be around forever and that they need to keep obeying God even after he's gone.
