1-14.

Lois: Oh, hi Peter. I'm just reading Esther 5. It's about Esther and her cousin Mordecai getting ready to appear before King Ahasuerus.

Peter: You know, Mordecai reminds me of that one guy from the movie, The Matrix. You know, the one who was always saying, "Not everyone is ready to take the red pill."

Lois: What does that have to do with Esther 5?

Peter: Oh, nothing. I just thought it was a cool reference.

Lois: Anyway, so Esther and Mordecai go to the court of the king. Esther is dressed in her royal robes and Mordecai is wearing a royal sash.

Peter: Wow, it's like a scene from one of those old-timey movies.

Lois: I guess. So then King Ahasuerus holds out his royal scepter to Esther and she and Mordecai bow down. And then the king asks Esther what she wants.

Peter: And Esther answers, "Can I have a milkshake?"

Lois: No, Peter. She asks to have her people, the Jews, saved.

Peter: Oh right, that makes more sense.

Lois: Then the king responds by saying that he will invite Haman to a banquet to discuss the matter. And then at the banquet, Esther reveals that Haman is plotting to kill all the Jews.

Peter: Wait, I thought that was the plot of the movie Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves.

Lois: No, that's not what's happening here.

Peter: Oh, okay. So then the king is so angry that he orders Haman to be hanged on the very gallows that Haman had built to hang Mordecai.

Lois: Exactly. And then the Jews are freed from persecution and Mordecai is made the second most powerful man in the kingdom.

Peter: Wow, that's like something out of an episode of The Simpsons.
