Peter: Ok, so Ecclesiastes 5 starts out by saying that when you make a promise, you should be sure to do it, because when you don't it's like making a wish to a Genie in a Bottle and then not following through.
Brian: Wow, that's pretty profound Peter.
Peter: Yeah, it's like that time I promised Meg I would take her to prom but then I didn't. I felt like a total douchebag.
Lois: Peter, I think this Bible verse is talking about more important promises than taking your daughter to prom.
Peter: Yeah, I guess it is. It then goes on to say that you should be careful with your words, because sometimes you can say something that you don't actually mean, and then regret it later.
Stewie: Like when I said I wanted to be a Priest and then realized I wanted to be an Evil Overlord instead?
Brian: Stewie, I don't think that's exactly what the Bible is talking about.
Stewie: Oh, okay. Well, Ecclesiastes 5 also says that when you make a vow to God, you should make sure to follow through with it.
Peter: Yeah, like when I promised God I'd stop drinking beer if he would help me find my car keys.
Lois: Peter, I'm pretty sure that's not what this chapter is talking about either.
Peter: Okay, okay. It then goes on to say that it's better to not make a vow, than to make a vow and then not follow through.
Brian: That's true. It's always better to make sure you can keep your word.
Stewie: Yeah, like when I said I would never eat broccoli again and then I did. I felt like a total idiot.
