Welcome to Weekend Update, I'm Norm MacDonald.

So, this week in the Bible, in Matthew chapter 16, Jesus starts off by asking his disciples who people say he is. People were saying he was John the Baptist, Elijah, or one of the prophets. Then Jesus asked his disciples who they thought he was and Peter answered that Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of the living God. Jesus was pleased with Peter's answer and gave him the keys to the kingdom of heaven.

Then Jesus warned the disciples to not tell anyone that he was the Messiah. He also began to teach them that he must suffer, die, and rise from the dead. Peter rebuked Jesus for this, but Jesus told him to get behind him, Satan.

Finally, Jesus told his disciples to take up their own crosses and follow him if they wanted to be his disciple. Oh, and he also said that whoever wanted to be his disciple must deny themselves.

That's all for this week in the Bible. Tune in next week for the next chapter. This is Norm MacDonald signing off.
