Joe: Alright, we got Bible Expert on the show today to give us a chapter by chapter breakdown of the Bible. What have you got for us today?

Bible Expert: Well today we are looking at chapter 16 of Matthew.

Joe: Alright, fire away!

Bible Expert: Okay, so in this chapter Jesus is asked by the Pharisees and Sadducees to perform a sign from heaven. Jesus responds by rebuking them and warning them not to be tempted by the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees, which is a metaphor for the hypocrisy of the religious leaders.

Joe: Wait, leaven? What is that?

Jamie (from the side): Hold on Joe, let me Google it real quick. (after a few seconds) Okay, it's a type of yeast used in baking.

Joe: Ah, got it. Continue.

Bible Expert: Yes, so Jesus then asks the disciples who people think he is, and they respond with various answers. But then Jesus asks them who they think he is and Peter responds that Jesus is the Messiah, the son of the living God. Jesus is pleased with this answer and tells Peter that he will be the rock upon which Jesus will build his church.

Joe: Wow, that's pretty incredible. Anything else?

Bible Expert: Yes, Jesus then goes on to explain to the disciples that he will suffer and die in Jerusalem, and will be raised from the dead on the third day.

Joe: Wow, that's a pretty heavy prophecy. Anything else?

Bible Expert: Yes, Jesus then tells the disciples to tell no one about his prediction, and then he goes on to warn them about the dangers of following false prophets.
