Joe: Alright, so what’s the next Bible chapter we’re gonna talk about?

Bible Expert: The next chapter is Matthew 28.

Joe: Alright, so what’s the deal with that one?

Bible Expert: Well, Matthew 28 is the final chapter in the book of Matthew in the New Testament. It recounts the Resurrection of Jesus.

Joe: Oh wow, that’s a big one. So what happens?

Bible Expert: Well, the chapter begins with an earthquake that rocks the area around Jerusalem and an angel of the Lord descends from heaven and rolls back the stone that was placed in front of Jesus’ tomb. The angel tells the two Mary’s who had gone to the tomb that Jesus was no longer in the tomb and had risen from the dead. The angel tells them to go to Galilee where they will find Jesus.

Joe: That’s wild! So then what happens?

Bible Expert: Then, when the Roman soldiers who were there to guard the tomb saw the angel, they were so frightened that they fainted. When the soldiers recovered, they went and told the chief priests what had happened, but the chief priests bribed them to say that Jesus’ disciples had stolen his body while they were sleeping.

Joe: That’s a pretty wild cover-up. So then what happens?

Bible Expert: Then, Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene and the other Mary and tells them to go and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead. Jesus then appears to the disciples and tells them to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Joe: That’s incredible! So that’s the end of the Bible then?

Bible Expert: Well, not really. Matthew 28 is the end of the book of Matthew, but there are still several books of the Bible left to go.
