Alex Trebek: So, tell me about yourself.

Contestant: Well, I'm a big fan of the Bible, so I'd like to give you a brief summary of Matthew 16.

Alex Trebek: [Sighs] Alright, if you insist…

Contestant: Matthew 16 starts with Jesus asking his disciples who people say he is. The disciples respond that some people say he is John the Baptist, Elijah, or one of the prophets. Jesus then asks who they think he is, and Peter responds that he is the Messiah. Jesus then tells Peter that he will be the foundation of the church. Jesus then begins to explain to the disciples that he will suffer and be rejected by the elders and chief priests, and that he will be killed and on the third day he will rise again. Jesus then warns his disciples to be aware of the false teachings of the Pharisees and Sadducees. He also tells them to be prepared for persecution. Finally, Jesus tells the disciples that anyone who denies him will be denied by God.

Alex Trebek: [In a strained voice] So, that's it?

Contestant: Yes, that's it. That's my summary of Matthew 16.

Alex Trebek: [Through gritted teeth] Very interesting. Let's move on to something else.
