Well, it's 1 Samuel 12 and this chapter is full of political pandering. The people of Israel come to Samuel and ask him to appoint a king, so he does the Lord's bidding and appoints Saul. Samuel then gives a long speech about how good the Lord has been to the Israelites, and how they shouldn't forget it. But he also warns them how bad it could be if they don't obey the Lord. So basically, Samuel's like, "Hey, do what I say, or else!" But it's all good, because he reassures the people that if they obey, the Lord will bless them. So it looks like the Israelites are in for a good few hundred years of kingship. Let's hope it works out!
