Folks, Deuteronomy 14 is all about how to conduct yourself as a God-fearing Israelite. No malarkey! C'mon man, this is serious stuff.

You know, my father used to say that the Lord provided the Israelites with food, and He wants them to be sure to give Him the credit. So here's the deal: the Lord says that of all the food the Israelites eat, they should set apart a tithe of the produce of their land, and the firstborn of their livestock, to be taken to the place the Lord chooses as His dwelling.

And literally, this isn't a joke. See here, Jack, the Lord also tells His people not to eat any detestable creatures. What was that? Detestable creatures? Like, oh, I don't know, shellfish, or uh, you know, lizards or something? Not gonna happen.

I tell you what, the Lord also says that the people can eat certain birds like the stork, heron, and hoopoe, but not the eagle, vulture, and the like. Excuse me? Yeah, they should stay away from those too.

So, here's the deal. The Lord also says that His people can eat any clean animal, but not to eat the blood. That's right, no blood. Got it? Good.

So, that's Deuteronomy 14. It's all about honoring the Lord through the food we eat and the creatures we don't. I'm not joking. That's a lesson I learned a long time ago, and it is one I'll never forget.
