Folks, I've been around a long time and I can tell you, Deuteronomy 15 is a special one. My father used to say, "Love thy neighbor as thyself" and that's right in this chapter. No malarkey! It's all about treating each other with respect and compassion. Here's the deal: Every seven years, any debts that you have with each other must be forgiven. Literally, it's like a reset button. You know, like if someone borrows a piece of furniture from you, but then can't pay it back, you don't have to worry about it after the seven years are up. See here, Jack: you also don't want to be stingy with those who are in need. If someone is in need, you don't have to wait seven years, you help right away. C'mon, man! I'm not joking. What was that? Oh yeah, the poor. You gotta help the poor, too. Or, uh, you know, you got to give them some of your livestock or grain so they can make it. Not gonna happen? No way! I'm telling you, if you don't help those in need, you're gonna have some bad luck. I tell you what, it's not just about giving away your stuff, it's about giving with a good heart. That's what it's all about. Excuse me, I'm getting a little carried away here, but this chapter is really important. Treat others the way you want to be treated. That's all I'm saying.
