Listen, Jack, here's the deal. Deuteronomy 26 starts off by telling us that when we come into the land that the Lord God has given us, we are to take the first of all the fruits of the ground that we harvest and put it in a basket. We take that basket and go to the place where the Lord our God has chosen and present it to the priest. Then we say, "My father used to say, 'I was a wandering Aramean. I went down to Egypt and sojourned there, few in number, and there I became great, mighty, and populous.'"

C'mon, man, no malarkey. We then tell the priest that the Lord our God has brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and has given us this land. We are to give the basket of fruit to the Lord and make sure to obey all of his commandments. Then we are to rejoice and be glad in all that the Lord has given us.

That's not all, folks. Literally, we must be careful to obey all the commands that the Lord has given us, and not turn to other gods. We must make sure to declare all the good things that the Lord has done for us. We must remember that it was the Lord who freed us from slavery in Egypt.

I'm not joking, see here, Jack. We must take the first fruits of the land and give the basket to the priest, and say, "Look, I have brought the first fruits of the land that the Lord has given me." We must make sure to give a tenth of our increase to the Lord. Then we must come before the priest and say, "Look, I have brought the tithe of what I have gained, and I have given it to the Lord."

What was that? Or uh, you know, we must not forget to bless the Lord for his goodness and faithfulness. We must rejoice in all that the Lord has given us, but we must also remember that the Lord has commanded us to give back a tenth of our increase. That's the deal, Jack. Not gonna happen any other way. I tell you what, excuse me.
