Listen, Jack, here's the deal. Ezekiel 24 is a wild ride. No malarkey! The Lord is using Ezekiel to illustrate how Israel has betrayed him - how they've taken their God-given blessings for granted and allowed themselves to be corrupted. He tells Ezekiel to take a pot and fill it with water and then put it on the fire. And then he says, "This is what will happen to the inhabitants of Jerusalem. C'mon, man! They will boil in the pot until it is empty. My father used to say, 'That's how the Lord will punish them.'" I'm not joking!

See here, Jack, God is also telling Ezekiel to illustrate something else. He says, "Take your wife, who you love so much, and prepare her for burial. What was that? And then don't mourn her death or show any emotion. Or uh, you know, don't act like you care, because the Lord is using her as a symbol to show how he will punish Jerusalem." Literally, he is saying that Jerusalem will be filled with death and sorrow. Not gonna happen? No way! I tell you what - God is really angry with them and he's using Ezekiel to show how serious the consequences will be. Excuse me, no one is getting out of this without paying the price.
