Alex Trebek: So, contestant, tell me a bit about yourself.

Contestant: Well, Alex I'm a big fan of the Bible and I'd love to tell you all about it. Let me start with Jeremiah 38.

Alex Trebek: [trying to remain polite] Uh, sure, I guess.

Contestant: In this chapter, Jeremiah is thrown into a cistern by the officials of King Zedekiah. Ebed-melech, a Cushite, pleads with the king to have Jeremiah released. The king agrees and Jeremiah is saved.

Alex Trebek: [rolls eyes] Alright, that's... interesting. Anything else?

Contestant: Yes! The Lord speaks to Jeremiah, telling him to go to the royal court and prophesy that if the people surrender to the Babylonians, they will be spared. But if they don't, they will be destroyed.

Alex Trebek: [sighs] Is that it?

Contestant: Yes, that's about it for Jeremiah 38.

Alex Trebek: [shaking his head] Uh-huh. Well, I think that's quite enough about the Bible for now. Let's move on to something else.
