Alex Trebek: Alright, so tell me a bit about yourself.

Contestant: Well, I'm a big fan of the Bible, and I'd like to give a summary of Jeremiah 34.

Alex Trebek: (sighs) Alright, if you must.

Contestant: Sure. In this chapter, Jeremiah prophesied that the Babylonians would conquer Jerusalem and take away the Israelites into captivity. He also warned that this captivity would be a punishment for their disobedience. In response, King Zedekiah made a covenant with God, promising to free all of the Hebrew slaves. But the people quickly broke this covenant and refused to free the slaves. So, God warned Zedekiah that he would be punished for his disobedience.

Alex Trebek: (tries to change the subject) So, do you have any hobbies outside of biblical studies?

Contestant: Well, I do like to read and write, but I really enjoy learning about the Bible. In fact, I'd like to give a summary of Jeremiah 35 now.

Alex Trebek: (exasperated) Do we have to?
