This week on Weekend Update, we take a look at Luke 6. In this chapter, Jesus gathers his disciples and names twelve of them as apostles. He then gives a sermon on a mountaintop, complete with some pretty choice quotes. He tells them to love their enemies, to do good to those who hate them, and to lend without expecting anything in return. Jesus also takes this opportunity to brag about his followers, saying they are blessed and will be the light of the world. He also cautions them against judgmentalism, telling them that God will judge them by the same standards they use to judge others. Finally, he ends with a parable about building a house on a rock versus building it on sand. So there you have it, folks. Jesus' sermon had something for everyone, regardless of your chosen faith.
