Folks, listen up, I'm tellin' ya, Matthew 9 is no malarkey! Here's the deal: Jesus is healin' people left and right. My father used to say, “Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day, but teach a man to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime.” That's what Jesus is doin' here, healin' people so they can live a healthy life. He's even called a couple of his disciples and said “Follow me” – now that's what I call a leader. Then, a group of people come to Jesus and say, “Hey, man, why don't you have your disciples fast like we do?” Now, I'm not gonna lie to ya, Jesus's response was, “Uh, no. You can't put a patch on a damaged cloth. It's gonna tear up again.” See, I'm telling ya, Jesus is no joke. He don't mess around. He knows what he's doing. And then there's this other guy, a tax collector who comes to Jesus and says, “Hey, I want to follow you.” And Jesus says, “Come on, man! You can do it!” That's the kind of guy Jesus is. Then, at the end of the chapter, Jesus is asked why he eats with all the sinners, and Jesus says “I came to call the sinners, not the righteous.” See here, Jack, Jesus was a man of the people. He was here to help. That's Matthew 9.
