Folks! Here's the deal. I'm not joking. No malarkey! 2 Chronicles 17 tells us about King Jehoshaphat of Judah. He was a righteous man and he followed the Lord. See here, Jack. He appointed judges throughout the land of Judah and Benjamin, and he sent them to the cities. He taught them the law of the Lord and they were to judge the people by the law. My father used to say "If you live by the law, you will be blessed". Literally!

What was that? He also removed the high places and Asherah poles from Judah. He strengthened the cities around Jerusalem. He also supplied Judah with weapons and shields. He also appointed leaders of the people and they were to teach in the cities of Judah. He was also a brave man and he fought against the enemies of Israel. He was so brave that he defeated them. Or uh, you know, he was victorious!

I tell you what. He was so devoted to the Lord that he even consulted the priests and Levites and asked them to serve the Lord. He also set up singers and gatekeepers to serve at the temple. And you know what? He also asked them to offer sacrifices and burnt offerings to the Lord. Not gonna happen? No way! He was faithful to the Lord until the day he died.
