Joe: Alright, so what can you tell us about 2 Chronicles 17?

Bible Expert: Well, this is an important chapter in the Bible as it talks about the reign of King Jehoshaphat of Judah. King Jehoshaphat was a righteous king and he was devoted to the Lord. He encouraged the people to seek the Lord and he even eliminated all the high places and idols from the land.

Joe: Wow, that's pretty impressive! So, what other changes did he make?

Bible Expert: Well, he also set up a system of religious judges throughout the kingdom. These judges were to teach the law of the Lord to the people. He also increased the number of Levites and priests in the temple and made sure that they were properly supplied with food and wine.

Joe: That's really interesting! I always thought the Levites were just kind of a ceremonial thing. What else did he do?

Bible Expert: He also brought together an army of warriors to help protect the kingdom. He also sent messengers to teach the people of Judah the ways of the Lord. He even sent them to the cities of Issachar and Zebulun.

Joe: Whoa! That's a lot of work. So, what happened in the end?

Bible Expert: Well, in the end, the Lord blessed King Jehoshaphat and his kingdom and it prospered. He was successful in his efforts to bring the people back to the Lord and his reign was peaceful and prosperous.
